Care and Grooming the Kerry Blue Terrier 

Below you will find the very basics of information regarding the care of the Kerry Blue, however
I am always willing to help the Kerry pet owner, Prof. groomer, breeder or handler with more in-depth grooming as this breed in not the easiest breed to groom if you’re a novice, and since most breeders aren’t likely to be local to you, it is difficult to get the mentorship needed on a regular basis to learn specific Kerry Blue grooming.

Learning to Groom the Kerry

Learning to groom the Kerry can be achieved in a few ways.
I recommend doing all of the following if possible, to get the most of your grooming experiences and learning the fastest.

1. Purchase the latest edition (2005) of the Kerry Blue Terrier Handbook (Available through the US Kerry Blue Terrier Club at: www.uskbtc.com ) There is a very good section with pictures on grooming the Kerry written by breeder Terese Worful.

2. Find a Breeder who will mentor you in grooming the Kerry and visit them as often as possible for a more visual learning experience.

3. Visit dog shows as often as possible and see how the Kerry is trimmed and prepared for the show ring. Learning a show trim will inevitably teach you to groom a pretty nice “pet trim” as well.

4. As a Nationally Certified Master Groomer with experience of more than 27 years in the grooming industry that happens to breed Kerry Blues, I offer a one-on-one grooming workshop/seminar for anyone wanting to learn about grooming, whether it be a Kerry Blue or any other breed, for show or pet trims. This is available to all Breeders, Prof. Groomers, Handlers & Pet owners alike and is an intense One or Two day hands-on workshop in your home or facility, that focuses on techniques, tools, balance & symmetry, hiding faults & accentuating correct features, proper coat care & maintenance, patterns, bathing & drying techniques, hand outs, and so much more! I want you to learn as much as I can offer you in the shortest amount of time!

Costs for this service is:  $250 per 8- 10 hr day or $350 for 2 day workshop. Participants are limited to 4 per workshop day.
